SRINAGAR, Nov 29: Senior PDP leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra today said sensing rout in the very first phase of polls, National Conference (NC) has again started drawing closer to BJP for survival.
“NC working president Omar Abdullah’s latest announcement that he was ready for post-poll alliance with the Saffron party, subject to certain conditions, indicates his desperation after smelling the trouble for his party in the very first phase of polls,” Karra said while addressing a PDP workers’ convention in Khanyar Assembly segment.
He said like 2008 Assembly polls, 2014 political battle in J&K is again turning out to be PDP v/s all. Karra said during the campaigning for 2008 Assembly polls in J&K, Omar Abdullah went around apologizing for his party’s alliance with BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, where he himself was a junior Minister. “But Omar Abdullah now seems to be again making desperate bid to reach out to his mentors in BJP and RSS as his heart was always there,” he said and added that Omar Abdullah’s latest bid for rapprochement with the Saffron brigade has now cleared all the doubts regarding the anti-Kashmiri designs of the NC leadership.
Karra said the wave building across J&K in favour of PDP is a vivid acknowledgment of the party’s swelling popularity among the masses in general and the youth and women in particular. “People have decided to teach NC a lesson for the politics of deceit practiced by the party over the years and keep the divisive forces at bay, that is why they came out in large numbers in the first phase of polling,” he said and expressed the hope that they would continue to carry forward the ongoing movement for change to its logical conclusion.
Karra said if elected to power, PDP would not only launch a massive initiative for the rehabilitation of the flood-victims and reconstruction of the flood-ravaged infrastructure, but would bring about a turnaround in infrastructure in the summer capital within first three years of the new Government.
Earlier, senior NC leader and former Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Abdul Rashid Pandith and DPN district president for Budgam, Syed Parvaiz Ilahi joined PDP in presence of Mr Karra.
