Wakeup Jammu campaign intensifies

JAMMU, Nov 29: Continuing its efforts to take voter awareness activities at every nook and corner especially youth under Wakeup Jammu campaign, a Mega Awareness Programme was organized at GHSS Domana by the District SVEEP Team in collaboration with Returning Officer Raipur Domana & Marh Assembly Constituencies here today.
Awareness observer appointed by Election Commission of India for Jammu & Rajouri Districts Pallavi Chinya was the chief guest.
Among others Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu Suram Chand Sharma, ARO Raipur Domana Vikas Kundal, BDO Bhalwal Waseem Raja, BDO Marh Ranjeet Singh, Tehsildar Marh Subash Bakshi, Principal HSS Domana, ZEOs Bhalwal and Marh and Sarpanches & Panches of the area were present.
Thousands of people drawn from all walks of life participated in the awareness programme campaign. A debate competition on “Importance of Voting for Strong Democracy” was held in which students from all the schools of Bhalwal & Marh blocks participated and deliberated upon the importance of voting and urged the audience to participate in the coming elections. Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu presented trophies to the top three contestants and also consolation trophies to 3 participants.
A scintillating play on importance of voting “Hamara Farz” performed by Artists from famous theatre group “Rangyug” & performance by Big FM 92.7 RJ’s Juhi & Manas led by Vikrant made the audience spell bound and got standing ovations on the occasion.
A signature campaign was launched by the awareness observer and she also participated in the pledge ceremony on the occasion. An EVM training session was also held on the occasion in which most of the people were demonstrated about EVM handling as well as how to cast vote.
Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu distributed four thousand Sankalp Patra among the heads of various educational institutions and appealed the students to ensure the return of duly signed Sankalp Patras and ensure the participation of their parents and other relatives in the coming Assembly elections scheduled to be held on December 20.
People also enquired about their queries relating to the addition, deletion and other clarifications in the electoral rolls from the experts from ACD Office Jammu in the Mobile Voter Registration Van (Democracy Express) in which online voter registration facility was available. The whole programme was organized on behalf of District Election Officer, Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu.
