IEDs, grenades seized from encounter site in Arnia

JAMMU, Nov 29: Army, BSF and police today defused three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and eight grenades and seized some more items from village Kathaar in Arnia sector, the site of fierce gunbattle between Army and militants in which 12 persons were killed.
Official sources said one Night Vision Device, one floating airbag, three IEDs and eight grenades were today recovered from a Nullah and bunker at village Kathaar, where four fidayeen militants were killed—three on Thursday and one yesterday.
All IEDs and grenades were defused, sources said, adding the NVD and floating airbag have been seized for investigations.
Further searches were still going on at village Kathaar and surroundings to ensure that there was no other explosive device left in the area, sources said.
Arnia police stations teams headed by SHO Inspector Jatinder Singh Samyal were conducting searches in the forward villages.
Meanwhile, an IED exploded close to Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar, creating panic in the area.

In the incident, an army vehicle, which was moving near the blast site, got damaged while there were no reports of any loss of life or injuries.
Search operation was launched after the incident and was on, when reports last came in.
