Traders call on IT Commissioner

UDHAMPUR, July 25 : A.K Thatai, Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K today visited Income Tax Office , Udhampur. This was his maiden visit to this office after taking over the charge as CIT, J&K.
A delegation of traders representing Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Udhampur led by Shyam Kalsotra     met him and apprised about various problems being faced by the traders at Udhampur.
The problems highlighted by them included the posting of a regular ITO and speedy issuance of refunds. The Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the     grievances of the traders and assured them that these problems will be addressed at the earliest.
Similar problems were also raised by representatives of Tax Bar Association of Udhampur who also met Commissioner of Income Tax. The delegation comprised of Anil Verma, President and Kuldeep Khajuria, Secretary
The Commissioner informed that department is in the process of constructing a new office -cum-residential premises in Udhampur for which land has already been identified in the town. He hoped that new office building will be constructed within two years. Besides this on the spot instructions were also given by him to ITO Udhampur for taking necessary steps to modernise the Income Tax Office so that best possible facilities can be provided to the tax payers.
He exhorted upon the staff members to work diligently and provide quality services to the tax payers .
The meetings were also attended by Rakesh Kumar, DCIT (HQ) and B K Raina, ITO Udhampur.
