JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should “apologise” to the people of Kashmir for Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti’s abusive remarks during an election rally in Delhi. “Mr Modi, during his visit to the Valley to address an election rally, should tender an apology to the people who will decide whether they want to vote BJP or not,” Mr Omar Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a rally in Nagrota Assembly constituency.
The CM joined the NC candidate Devendra Singh Rana during filing of nomination papers.
The Prime Minister will address a rally in Srinagar on December 6 to woo voters of Kashmir for Phase-3 polling, which is to be held on December 9.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Niranjan Jyoti a few days ago had used expletives while campaigning for the BJP in Delhi.
“Holding a huge rally and addressing a gathering of one lakh people and converting them into votes is a different matter,” Mr Omar Abdullah said.
He also criticised the BJP for dumping some of the poll issues particularly Article 370 and betraying the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“In my election rallies I have not said anything wrong but reminded BJP of the issues they raised ahead of polls,” said Mr Abdullah.
BJP, he said, has betrayed the people of J&K on Article 370. “Whenever the next elections will be, I am sure the BJP will again raise the issue of Article 370,” he said. On ‘Hindu Chief Minister’, Mr Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir is a secular state and the CM will be determined by the people of the state.
He queried,”Why should we limit the chief ministership?” (AGENCIES)
