BJP will draw blank in Kashmir: Congress

Mir Farhat
Srinagar, Dec 3: Congress party today ridiculed Bhartiya Janata Party’s Mission 44+ slogan as a mere joke, saying the party will draw blank in the Assembly segments in Kashmir.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) National Spokesperson Meem Afzal said that the target of 44 seats trumpeted by the BJP is a joke. “The slogan of BJP to achieve what they call Mission 44+ is a joke. BJP will not win a single vote in the Valley,” Afzal told a press conference here.
“BJP will not be able to form a Government in Jammu and Kashmir. And any party which joins BJP for post-poll alliance will be that party’s political death for those who would to go with the BJP,” he said.
He said that there would be no Government in the state without Congress.
Afzal claimed that the BJP candidates in the Valley will not get votes from their own family members.
“BJP is bribing people here to join the party. I am sure the candidates contesting on the BJP’s ticket will not even get votes of their family members,” he said.
Accusing the BJP of doublespeak, Afzal said the BJP leaders do not talk about Article
370 in Kashmir, but in Jammu, all their leaders are whispering (about the issue).
He said BJP has no right to hold any discussion about Article 370.
Congress party has a firm stand that Article 370 is a bridge between Jammu and Kashmir and Union of India, he said, adding it will always remain in the constitution.
“BJP is using molvis (Islamic preachers) to befool the people. They have brought them from Rajasthan and other States, but people here will not allow a communal party like BJP to succeed,” he said.
He said that there is a huge difference between BJP’s thinking and doing. They raise the slogans of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikass’ but it wants ‘sabka saath’ only for its own ‘vikaas’.
“BJP says they will take all along with its development but on the others side its minister abuses the people in Parliament,” he said, pointing to the derogatory remarks made by Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in the Parliament.
He said that he appeals to the “brothers and sisters” of Jammu “not to fell in BJP’s communal trap”.
He further said that people of State should be cautious and they should not fell for Modi’s propaganda.
