SRINAGAR : Expressing confidence that the winds of change sweeping the state would cleanse the state politics of all opportunistic politicians, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said 2014 assembly polls will end dark era in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We are hopeful that the people would hold to account those politicians who only indulged in corruption, frauds but also have brought disgrace to the political system through their underhand dealings,” she said while addressing various roadside meetings in Gulmarg (Tangmarg) constituency of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
Mehbooba said the people of the State are politically mature and wise enough to understand the changing realities on the ground and they will vote out all those politicians who have been partner to every crime the Omar Abdullah Government has resorted to during last six years.
“These opportunistic politicians have been part of killings, torture of youth, mis-governance, loot, plunder of natural resources, corruption and other shameful dealings which the state has suffered for the last six years,” she alleged.
Calling for a decisive mandate for her party, the PDP Chief said it is the duty of the electorate of Tangmarg to reject the people who have promoted the culture of nepotism, favoritism, political corruption and treated the state as their personal property by misusing the people’s mandate. “Reject those people who have been doling out favors to their agents and favorites in the form of contracts and jobs without any regard to merit and rules,” she said.
Mehbooba said it is encouraging that the people have started voting on merit as is evident from the first two phases of elections, and the time is not too far when we will be having a responsible and responsive Government under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed heading the State.(AGENCIES)
