SRINAGAR, Dec 5: Former Union Minister and AICC general secretary Ambika Soni today alleged that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah prevented implementation of Food Security Bill in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing election rally along with PCC chief  Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz at Singhpora in Pattan Assembly constituency today, Ms Soni said that Congress Party brought Food Security Bill for the welfare of the poor people. This bill has been implemented in many States but Omar Abdullah created hurdles in the implementation of this Bill in the J&K State. With this a large number of people of this State have been deprived of its benefit.
The AICC leader, who is also in-charge J&K Affairs of the party further said that public  welfare will always be the first concern of Congress Party, particularly Congress president  Sonia Gandhi and vice president  Rahul Gandhi. She reminded the people that Congress  Party was  with the people of Kashmir in their hour of need during recent floods.
She emphasized the fact that Congress Party had fullest possible knowledge about their needs for their development and UPA- Ist and UPA- IInd had proved that fact.  She lamented   the fact that Omar Government had not allowed the adoption of Food Security Bill that could have provided great relief to the people of J&K.
Ms Soni urged the people to support  Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, party candidate from Pattan constituency and other candidates fielded by Congress Party as the Congress Party alone had the capacity and concern to serve them best.
Prof Soz said that Congress Party feels confident that it shall have a largest presence in the J&K Legislative Assembly. He further said that it is the Congress Party that will decide the future shape of secular Coalition Govt in the State.
Those, who addressed the gathering included Gulam Nabi Monga, Aftab Ahmad Beigh,  Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh and others.
