NEW DELHI, Dec 5: Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh today paid a formal courtesy call to Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and greeted him on his taking over as Minister in-charge of the North-Eastern States.
Ibobi Singh said that there is an all-round joy and happiness among the people of Manipur on the news of Dr. Jitendra Singh having taken over the charge of Ministry of DoNER, because he is known to be a Minister with humble and positive disposition.
The visiting Chief Minister expressed the hope that with Dr. Jitendra Singh as in charge of DoNER Ministry, the State of Manipur will witness rapid progress and growth which is also the desire and priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ibobi Singh specifically brought to the notice of Dr Jitendra Singh two of the power projects for which he was keen that the work should be started. The Minister assured him that soon after his taking over the charge of DoNER two weeks ago, he has already released the funds for ongoing projects and will also issue instructions for pre-sanction release of funds for the project pointed out by the Chief Minister.
Ibobi Singh invited Dr. Jitendra Singh to visit Manipur for an on-the-spot assessment of diverse range of problems  faced by the State Government. In response, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured the Chief Minister that he would plan a visit after the year-end because the session of the Parliament will end only by third week of December and thereafter the people of North-East will be busy with the festival of Christmas.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jitendra Singh assured Ibobi Singh that his Ministry will act as a facilitator for all the initiatives envisaged by the respective State governments of North-East. He also informed the Chief Minister  of a meeting of 39 MPs of North-East region scheduled for December 19 followed by a plan to hold a meeting of the Chief Ministers of eight North-East States at New Delhi.
