Police registers FIR in temple theft case

MENDHAR, Dec 5: The police today registered an FIR in connection with the theft which took place in historical  Hanuman Mandir on the intervening night of December 3 and 4 in the town here.
After mounting pressure from the general public regarding incident of theft in the religious place, an FIR No. 180/ 2014 under sections 380/547 RPC was registered at Mendhar Police Station today. The thieves had broke open the temple and decamped with donation box containing nearly Rs 50,000 cash. Four policemen (SPOs)  had been deployed  for the protection/ security of the temple.
Officiating,  SDPO Mendhar  DySP (Ops) Sheezan Bhat said that four SPOs had been deployed for the security of the temple and they were found absent from duty on that night. SHO was holding inquiry into the matter and the absentees will be recommended for termination to the SSP Poonch. He said three were said to be on election duty only on December 2 and they should be there on the duty at the temple. The DySP said that action under law will be taken by police and no  Sarpanch or Mandir Committee member will be allowed to  interfere in police matter or  protect the accused persons. He said the theft will be worked out shortly and three persons were detained for questioning. One gents purse and SIM card were also recovered during search from the site on the day of theft.
The police said that SPOs Satinder Kumar, Ramesh Chander, Subash Chander and Rajesh Kumar were deployed at temple and found absent from duty. Their termination is being recommended to the SSP.
