CEC reviews measures for board examinations

LEH, Dec 6:  CEC, LAHDC, Rigzin Spalbar today convened a review meeting on issues related to board examination, winter coaching, action taken of last meeting, DIET trainings, procurement of books and activities with Sampark Foundation in detail.
Concerning board exam preparations, CEC took a detailed assessment of present status of preparations for 10th and 12th board exams school wise from each Headmaster/Principal by comparing the last year’s board exams results and recent dummy exam. He urged upon the concern HM/Principal to cover up for the downfall of pass percentage in the dummy exam in the winter coaching classes to achieve the targeted goal in the final exams.
Arranging of winter coaching classes was one of the major debated issues in the meeting. The meeting decisions were finalized on setting up of centralized residential schools for winter coaching in different parts of the district. CEC said that the concerned ECs of the region will head the monitoring of these Residential Schools followed by the councilors but the greater responsibility will be shared by the Principals and Headmasters who have better understanding of their students and can best cater to the requirement as per their needs and shortcomings.
The issue of mass cheating in schools came up in light and CEC strongly condemning the practice gave strict instructions to all the Principals and HMs to keep a strict vigil on it and also to issue an order that whosoever will be found cheating during exams, severe actions will be taken against him/her. Spalbar also urged the Councilors to stick to their commitment including him to give minimum of 15% of CCD funds to the education sector in their respective constituencies.
He also appreciated the spirit and dedication of the local teachers for their efforts with certain shortcomings in terms of vacant posts of principals, lecturers and masters. To motivate them further, he announced to give laptops to Principals and HMs on performance basis to start with and also give assurance to give incentives to volunteered teachers in winters. CEC informed that as per the action taken report of last meeting Rs.1 lac award will be given to NDA selected student from Govt school after 12th exam and full scholarship will be given to student passed with 75% result in 12th board exam.
Principal DIET, Konchok Angmo highlighted about the various teacher training programmes scheduled to be held in the coming winter months, procurement and supply of books and syllabus. She asked for financial assistance at council level.
Regional Coordinator, Sampark briefed about the MoU signed between LAHDC and Sampark Foundation and the present updates in this regard. He informed that Mathematics Kits will be provided to 350 Govt. schools and in winter months in coordination with DIET Basic Foundation Training in Maths and English will be imparted to 320 teachers.
Some of the 10th and 12th standard students from different Govt schools also expressed their views and raised some important points.
In the meeting the councilors, principals and HMs also put forth their suggestions and hindrances in delivering the results to their best.
