Army chief visits J&K; reviews security situation with commanders

NEW DELHI, Dec 6: Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag today visited Srinagar and reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, a day after series of terror attacks in which more than 20 people, including three policemen and eight army men, were killed.

The Army Chief paid tributes to martyrs who lost their lives while trying to thwart the terror strikes.     Army Sources told UNI here that Gen Suhag was briefed by the Northern Army commander about security situation in the state that was undergoing poll process and the third phase of polling was scheduled on Tuesday.

A day before the third phase of polling, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also slated to visit the state.     After brief stay in Srinagar, the Army Chief has returned to capital. He is likely to brief the top political leadership about the latest security situation in the state. (UNI)
