BASOHLI, Dec 6: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER),MoS PMO, DoPT, Pensions, Space and atomic Energy, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Basohli richly deserves to be declared a “Heritage” town and BJP has always put forward this demand but there is always lack of support from the State Government.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Dalman, Benod, Manpur and Athoon in Basohli Assembly constituency near here, he said  BJP officially recognizes Basohli as a separate district in its organizational set-up but the State Government has constantly denied it the status of a district, he added.
The art and painting of Basohli is hailed and promoted worldwide except in the State of J&K which is a sad irony, said Dr Jitendra Singh and described this as a glaring instance of “cultural” discrimination with Jammu due to Kashmir-centric approach of Government. The monuments and scenic spots of the area richly deserve to be developed as tourist spots and if BJP is voted to power it will work in this regard on priority basis, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP will strive for justice and due attention for Basohli. He also reiterated the demand for a separate hill district comprising Bani-Basohli-Billawar.
Dr. Jitendra Singh regretted poor state of roads and said these are the issues on BJP priority. He said BJP ‘s main poll plank is the development of the State which has suffered a tremendous loss due to 25 year long turmoil and misgovernance.
Dr Jitendra Singh met a cross section of people including ex-servicemen, social activists and prominent citizens of the area and appealed them to strengthen party and ensure victory of its candidate.
Dr. Jitendra Singh appealed for a vote for BJP so that these long standing demands of the   area can be addressed.
