JAMMU, Dec 6: In a solemn wreath laying ceremony conducted in the best traditions of the Indian Army, the Jammu Military Station paid homage to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives while battling the foreign terrorists at Mohura in Uri Sector yesterday.
The martyrs, Lt Col Sankalp Kumar, Hav Subhash Chand, L/Nk Gurmail Singh, Nk Panna Lal Yadav, Gnr Satnam Singh, L/Nk Sukhwinder Singh, DMT Kuldeep Kumar and Gnr Manpreet Singh were all part of the Valley’s Dagger Division.
Last rites of the martyr L/Nk Gurmail Singh with full military honours were finally performed at his native place Makhanpur, Bishnah, Jammu, a Defence spokesman said.
Meanwhile the mortal remains of Sanjay Kaul Cosntable JKP who attained martyrdom at Mohura Uri yesterday in Fidayeen attack were consigned to flames with full State honour. A large number of people attended his funeral procession which started from his residential house in Niterkotian Barnai and gave a touching adieu to this brave soldier.
He was presented a Guard of Honour by Jawans of JKP before his body was consigned to flames at Shakti Nagar Cremation Ground.
Besides, people from all walks of life and prominent persons including Ex DGP, Ashok Bhan, Swami Kumar Ji, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, SP City Shiv Kumar, S P North, SP South and other police officers were present during his cremation.
