Committed towards strengthening democracy at grassroots: Malhotra

JAMMU, Dec 8: As a part of ongoing campaign for Assembly polls-2014, the Congress candidate from Jammu East Assembly constituency today visited Kanji House, Christian Colony, area adjoining Hari Singh School, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Paharian Mohalla and interacted with the residents, today.
On this occasion, Vikram Malhotra said that the poor response and the support the other candidates were getting from the voters has started frustrating them and as a result these candidates have started making false and irresponsible statements.
Vikram said that the National Conference, PDP and BJP parties played politics over implementation of 73rd and 74th amendment besides showing least concern about empowerment of Panchayats and seriousness in timely elections to the urban local bodies. He said that he and his party stand for taking democracy to the grassroots levels and is committed to hold the elections to all urban and rural local bodies on time. He assured that he will work towards strengthening the democratic institutions so that the people get the real fruits of development.
He made a fervor appeal to them to vote in his favour asserting that he was committed to develop the Jammu East as a Model constituency.
