JAMMU, Dec 8:  Accusing Jammu University authorities of delaying action against the culprits involved in defacement of the replica foundation stone on campus, activists of National Conference Students Union today staged a protest demonstration in front of the University gate.
They raised slogan against the JU authorities and also torched an effigy to register their anguish over the issue.
While addressing the protesters, NCSU vice-president Pawan Sharma alleged that
instead of initiating a strict action against the miscreants, the JU authorities were trying to shield the accused by appointing such officers in the enquiry committee, whose integrity was doubtful.
He also appealed Governor N N Vohra to order an independent probe into the incident through some independent agency like CBI.
Among those, who took part in the protest, included, Aman Cheema, Harsimran Singh, Surpreet Singh, Ravi Singh, Amritpal Singh, Sanjay Kumar Manoj Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Sahil and others.
