Omar failed to carry forward developmental agenda of Congress: Azad

JAMMU : Former Union Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for failing in carrying forward the agenda of development in the State.

“The young and incumbent, Mr Abdullah, failed to carry forward developmental agenda started by Congress led coalition Government in 2005,” Mr Azad said while addressing an election rally in Vijaypur Assembly segment of Samba district in support of party candidates .

He also lambasted National Conference, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party leadership for initiating misinformation campaign against Congress. “BJP as well as PDP are dividing the people on communal lines just for the want of votes, thereby spoiling the secular atmosphere of the State,” he added.

Mr Azad took a dig at National Conference and pointed, “When Congress agreed to make alliance with National Conference, we were quite hopeful that Mr Abdullah will carry forward the developmental activities initiated by Congress party in all the three regions of the State.

“I thought he (Omar) will continue the double shift and triple shift works, but to our utter surprise, he put all the developmental works to a standstill,” alleged Mr Azad. “Unfortunately in past six years, Mr Abdullah did not even visit a single area to check whether the developmental works in progress would be completed well in time or not,” he asserted.
