PET attacked with axe, staff goes on strike

MENDHAR, Dec 10:  A Physical Education Teacher was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked with an axe by a villager at Govt High School, Mesiyan Chhunga in tehsil Mendhar.
Today the staff and students went on strike to mark their protest and lodged an FIR against the villager and his two sons for the attack. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when PET along with students was playing volleyball in the school compound. The ball went into the nearby field.  A student wanted to bring back the ball but the villager Mohd Sagir Khan objected and did not allow to enter his field. Upon this, the teacher himself went to collect the ball. The villager came out with axe and attacked the teacher. The two sons of  the villager also joined and started beating the teacher on this small issue. The school staff and students rushed for the rescue of the teacher and the injured was later removed to Mendhar Hospital.
Today, the headmaster and staff went to the office of DyCEO and narrated the matter and later an FIR was lodged against the villager and his two sons. The police registered FIR No. 149/14  and started investigation. The headmaster in a written complaint has said that school had 3 kanals of land and it is left with hardly 10 marla while other land has been grabbed by the accused and he is cultivating it. Even the semi constructed area of RMSA building in the adjoining is being used by this villager. They approached the SDM and DyCEO to get this area vacated from the illegal occupation of Sagir. They also demanded protection for the staff.
