JAMMU, Dec 10: Police today arrested a contractor along with explosive material, which he had kept in his house at village Kalaban in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
He has been identified as Abdul Hamid, 36, son of Mohammad Bashir, a resident of Kalaban, Mendhar.
Reports said police recovered 10 gelatine sticks, 23 detonators and wire bundle from the house of Abdul Hamid during searches conducted today on the basis of specific information.
The material is used in blasting hills for construction of roads but the contractor had dumped it in the house. The same material can also be used in making explosive devices.
Police said the contractor was arrested after question and a case under Section 286 RPC has been registered against him at Mendhar police station for further investigations.
