3 injured in jackals’ attack

JAMMU, Dec 11: Three persons including two minor girls were injured when a group of jackals attacked them at Saoie area falling under Khoon Panchayat of tehsil Majalta in Udhampur district.
The panic gripped the villagers after a woman and two minor girls were critically injured by a group of three jackals when they were returning home in the evening after grazing cattle in the far off fields. Hearing the victims’ cries for help, one of the villagers came to their rescue and thrashed to death two of the jackals with an iron rod while the third one fled in the forest.
The injured persons identified as Geeta Devi (58) wife of Chandu Ram, Nishu Devi (16) daughter of Sham Lal and Neena Devi (3) daughter of Bhagwan Singh, all residents of Theda, were immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre Ramkote, from where later they were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for specialized treatment.
