Girl injured in acid attack

Srinagar, Dec 11: A 21-year-old college girl was injured today in an acid attack at Nowshera, Soura in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
Reports said that two persons who were travelling in a car intercepted an LLB student of Allochibagh locality, outside the Law College in Tawheedabad, Nowshera area and threw acid at her. The duo fled after carrying out the attack.
The passersby and police shifted the injured college girl to SKIMS in unconscious condition where doctors referred her to JVC hospital Bemina for specialized treatment.
After the news spread in the college, students took to streets and protested against the attack. The protesters demanded stern action against the culprits.
A police spokesman said here that today two unknown attackers threw acid on a girl near Law College Tawheedabad, Nowshera. The attackers fled in a white Maruti car having a sticker “MANSA” pasted on its rear glass.
Police have registered a case under FIR(136/2014) in this regard and investigation has been taken up. The girl has been hospitalized. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits, he said.
