JURSEA demands repair work in university hostels

JAMMU, Dec 13:  Jammu University Research Scholar Executive Association (JURSEA) today criticized Jammu University authorities for their failure to renovate Nehru Boys Hostel for years and also demanded separate hostel for girl scholars on the varsity campus.
Addressing media persons, here today, JURSEA president Sukhdev Singh said that after repeated pleas to Jammu University Works Department for repairs and renovation of rooms in Nehru Boys Hostel, nothing has been done in this respect.
“Every year JU management spends  lakhs of rupees for renovation of various electrical equipments and other works in various hostels of Jammu University but despite that a number of appliances have gone defunct  and no action has been taken to replace the same,” he alleged  and sought an explanation over how so many electric gadgets become  defunct  in the hostels.
Sukhdev Singh demanded a through probe into the matter and apprehended that sub-standard material was being used by the contractors, who had been allotted the renovation work.
The JURSEA president also criticized the JU Vice-Chancellor’s direction of blocking the Social Networking sites in the hostel.  He urged the Chancellor and Governor N N Vohra to issue necessary instruction to the Vice-Chancellor for immediate repair works in the hostels and also unblocking the Social Networking sites.
