JAMMU, Dec 13: Underlining the need to further accelerate the process of progress and development  in Gandhi Nagar constituency, Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture and Congress candidate  Raman Bhalla assured the people that yet another united show will cherish his dream of converting  Gandhi Nagar into a model constituency of the State.
Mr Bhalla said this, while addressing the people during door-to-door campaign in Shastri Nagar and  Gandhi Nagar areas. The Minister was accompanied by Bollywood Actor and son of the soil Mukesh Rishi  and Congress party workers and supporters.
I have a dream of making a modern and progressive Gandhi Nagar constituency which will set an example  for the State and if people show their confidence in me, I will give them the desired results, he asserted.
He asked the people to choose that Party which has the track record of initiating the developmental  activities in Gandhi Nagar constituency, adding that those who are selling dreams are bent upon  dividing the people and are the real enemies of the constituency and the state.
Later, Minister addressed series of election meetings in Bhatindi, Shanker Nagar, Gujjar Mohallah,  Poonchi Mohallah, Gandhi Nagar, Sunjwa, Nanak Nagar, Deeli, Ekta Vihar, Gadigarh, Rohi Morh, Trikuta  Nagar and Gangyal areas of the Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Presenting his performance as MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency, Minister disclosed that with commissioning  of a number of water supply schemes in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, people are getting safe and  hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened up and the whole constituency, today, is
connected through a network of roads and lanes. Apart from this, around 25 tube-wells were installed in various localities of the constituency to over come water-crisis, he added.
Mr Bhalla said that electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number  of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded, adding that around 15 schools have been  upgraded to high and higher secondary level, which are catering to the needs of thousands of students  at their doorsteps and all this happened due to the positive approach, sincerity and dedication of the  Congress party towards the people.
“Multipurpose-cum-community halls were constructed at Bazigar Basti, Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Nagar and some  other areas of the constituency, so that the people can hold family functions and social gatherings,”  Minister added.
In Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, various new departments were established including Eye Department,  Dental Department, Dialysis Unit, Minister said, adding that OPD costing Rs 18 crore was also made  operational in the hospital, which caters to the needs of thousands of people on daily basis.
