NC committed to tribal welfare, development of remote areas: Altaf

NOWSHERA, Dec 17: Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmed today said that welfare of reserved categories has been prime on the agenda of National Conference and several path-breaking initiatives have been taken to ameliorate their lot.
Addressing various election meetings in Nowshera constituency, while seeking votes for the party candidate Radhey Shyam Sharma, the Minister referred to the achievements registered under the aeiges of organization designated for development of tribal areas.
Mr Altaf also referred to the initiatives taken by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and Madr-e-Mehrban Begum Abdullah for female literacy and empowerment of Gujjars and said their dreams stand realized with children of these segments of society making their mark in every field.
Addressing the gathering State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta said development of far flung areas has been core of the National Conference led government, which has succeeded in heralding a new era of progress over the years. He gave an overview of the achievements registered by the Omar led government to ensure better living of people in the remote areas.
Mr Gupta said that coming years will witness consolidation of the works taken up during the past six years and launching of new projects to upgrade the service sectors. “Rural upliftment has got impetus under the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah”, he said.
Assuring the people that he will continue to work for inclusive and holistic development of the constituency, Mr Radhey Ram Sharma said the people’s massive vote for National Conference will be support to the policies and programmes pursued by the Omar led government. He said his main thrust would be to ensure time-bound completion of the schemes so that their benefits reach the people urgently.
Mr Gupta assured the 1947 refugees that their one time settlement package will be got approved by the Centre on priority.
National Conference leaders Pradeep Bali and Vipin Pal also addressed the gatherings and sought vote for Radhey Shyam Sharma.
