JAMMU, Dec 18: On the last day of campaigning BJP senior leader and celebrity Navjot Singh Sidhu addressed four election meetings in support of party candidates today.
The BJP leader addressed two poll rallies in Gandhi Nagar Assembly Segment one at Bhour Camp and another at Bahu Fort in support of Party candidate Kavinder Gupta, while he addressed one rally each in Jammu East Constituency and Nagrota Constituency in support of BJP candidates Rajesh Gupta and Nand Kishore Sharma respectively.
Addressing a mammoth election rally at Hari Singh Park on the bank of river Tawi Sidhu asked the people of Jammu to throw out of the ground the corrupt and inept parties like Congress, PDP and National Conference the same way a batsman hits the ball out of the ground for a six. Sidhu, while addressing the rally said that BJP is like his mother and he will always remain loyal to it. BJP is a party of honest people whereas Congress is a party of corrupt and turncoat politicians. He was critical of the Governments of the J&K and said that they have ruined the economics of the State all these years.
The worst condition of roads, sanitation, education, and infrastructure and power generation in the State is a testimony of the mis-governance of the rule of the three dynasties for the last 67 years. There is an imperative need to change the fate and future of the people of the State. He also lambasted the erstwhile UPA Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh and castigated it as the fountainhead of corruption and bad rule. He said that the present dispensation needs to be punished for what it did to the State all these years.
The people responded to his slogans and poetry with thunderous applause. They went berserk whenever he made his trademark gestures and recited the Urdu couplets describing the Congress as ‘Naagnath’ and National Conference as ‘Sarpnath’. He said that Modi Government sent crores of Rupees to the State Government after he took over as the PM of India but the State Government led by Omar Abdullah kept sitting on it without disbursing it to the hapless people.
Rajesh Gupta on the occasion made a humble appeal to the voters of the constituency to vote him in large numbers and make him successful in the elections. He asked the activists of the party to concentrate on the last phase of the poll process and make every voter to cast his/her vote on the polling day.
