JAMMU, Dec 18: A life convict in a murder case, who was serving life term in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, about 12 kilometres from Jammu, died mysteriously this afternoon.
According to a police spokesperson, the convict identified as Jaswant Singh (40) son of Ujagar Lal, a resident of Badyal Brahmana in RS Pura sector was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, by Jail police after his condition started deteriorating suddenly.
However, the man collapsed on the way to hospital. The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
A FIR under Section 174 CrPC has been registered in this concern at Gharota police station and further investigations started. However, preliminary investigations revealed that the person died due to cardiac arrest.
