AKHNOOR, Dec 18: Addressing a series of public meetings in various parts of Akhnoor constituency, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma said he was seeking votes on his performance during last 12 years unlike others who are busy in befooling the people with their false promises.
“I did a lot for development of Akhnoor during his 12 years tenure as MLA. Development Blocks at Chowki Choura, Mandrian and Bhalwal Brahmana is my landmark achievement since prior to it only one Block at Akhnoor was catering the vast Akhnoor Constituency’, he said adding Sub District status to Chowki Choura, Tehsil at Mandrian and Niabat at Bhalwal are his other achievements to provide good governance in the time to come to deliver desired results.
Sharma said he is seeking votes on his agenda of development and performance unlike others who are befooling voters with hollow promises. He cautioned people not to trust such false promises to allow any negative mind set to damage the tempo of accelerated all round development in their villages.
Generating more avenues of employment for educated youths of Akhnoor will be my top priority as during his tenure as MLA, one Degree College, one Ayurvedic College, one Nursing Training School, dozens of Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools were opened.
He reiterated that agro based industries shall be opened in Akhnoor to provide employment. Besides, Corporate Sector and Counseling Centres will be set up in constituency for providing bright employment opportunities to local youths he promised.
Sharma said, “His vision of Akhnoor as Tourist Spot”, to be fulfilled in next six years as development of river Chenab Ghats, build Tourist Reception Centre, Bridges on Chenab to connect Akhnoor from all sides, road connectivity, better civic amenities and health services, all were aimed at to make Akhnoor constituency as one the model in the State.
