250 patients treated in cardiac care camp

JAMMU, Dec 21: The Cradiology Department of Government Medical College, Jammu today organized a cardiac care camp at Udhampur in which more than 250 patients were examined. The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College Jammu along with a team of doctors which comprised Dr Nasir, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr D Kapoor, Dr Atul Sharma and paramedics including Ganesh, Kashmiri Lal and volunteer including Lokesh and Nitesh. Dr Sharma highlighted the need of regular check up for prevention of heart diseases. This shall be the most important aspect of caring for heart and keeping it free of disease. A large number of people availed the benefits of this camp where in risk factors like smoking excessive alcohol intake, Hypertension uncontrolled Diabetes, Hyperlipidaemia, obesity and stressful situations were emphasized. Further in this camp the importance of cold weather which is a precipitating factor for acute heart events like heart attacks as well as sudden cardiac arrests leading to mortality especially in old age were highlighted. Varinder Singh, Rajinder Sansan, Puran Lal Sharma, Shyamsaroop Kalsotra, Surjeet Singh, M S Dutta, Rajiv Gupta and Arun Sharma expressed their gratitude to Dr Susheel Sharma and his team for making available medical facilities at their doorstep and hope for such kind of cooperation in the near future.
