JAMMU, Dec 22: In connection with celebration of Energy Conservation week from December 14 to December 21 a seminar was organized in CGM BSNL Office here today.
The focus of the seminar was on measures to be taken up for energy conservation, particularly in BSNL. Effects of global warming, use of non conventional energy resources (Solar energy), free cooling etc were discussed at large during the seminar.
Various measures in this regard were discussed in detail which included No cost, low cost and High Cost measures. The use of non conventional energy resources viz. solar power system and others to save energy and reduce emission of green houses gases. Use of free cooling by using low ambient temperature of J&K area to cool telecom equipment without using conventional air conditioners was intimated by A K Shukla, Chief Engineer (Electrical) BSNL and was well appreciated by all participants.
He said BSNL has already taken a big leap in this field by installation of solar power system and 16 locations in J&K which are providing fruitful in energy saving and reduction in electricity and fuel consumption.
A running trophy for energy conservation was presented by S K Khullar to Atul Sharma GMTD for SSA Jammu and to A K Shukla for implementation of energy conservation measures.
A thoughtful presentation was given by Ravi Raina, EE (E) and SDE (E)s of Electric Wing including Vijay K Raina, T K Bangotra, Ashok Kumar, and Naresh Kumar.
