Festive mood in Jammu as BJP wins 16 seats

JAMMU:  Bharatiya Janata Party cadres were seen in a  festive mood in the winter capital after its candidates were  declared victorious in 16 seats as counting of votes in the  five-phased Assembly elections progressed today.
As soon as the BJP candidates were declared victorious by the election officers in respective constituencies, supporters of the saffron party carrying its flags and banners began dancing to the tunes of ‘dhol.’
Shouting ‘har har Modi,’ the BJP activists distributed sweets and also greeted and hugged each other.    A festival-like atmosphere prevailed in the BJP headquarters where the party had made elaborate arrangements to celebrate the victories.
Large LCD screens were installed at the party headquarters for the visitors to watch the counting results live.    Traffic restrictions were imposed in the city in view of victory rallies being taken out.
BJP, eyeing Mission 44+, was leading in 22 seats out of  the 87-member Assembly.
Peoples Democratic Party had emerged as the single largest party, leading on at least 30 Assembly segments followed by BJP, Congress and National Conference.
