JKGB organizes awareness programme on PMJDY

JAMMU, Dec 24: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) in collaboration with NABARD organized an awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY) at village Panjgrain under Base Branch Nagrota in district Jammu.
Chief guest, Savresh Kohli, Area Manager, (JKGB) Jammu while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the initiatives taken by the bank for credit outflow in diversified activities like KCC/GCC for the purpose of setting up economic units for augmenting the income of the families.
Earlier, VK Sharma, Senior Manager, Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion (JKGB) apprised the gathering in detail about PMJDY. He also highlighted the benefits of Farmer Clubs, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) and various others NABARD’s Programmes to uplift the rural masses.
Sanction letters worth Rs 70 lakhs were distributed during the camp. An amount of Rs 17 lakhs was disbursed on spot to 50 beneficiaries in the shape of KCC, GCC, etc.
Meanwhile, one day district level awareness programme on self help groups was conducted by NABARD in Kathua district to sensitize bankers on role and formation of Self Help Groups. The main participants in the meeting from Kathua district were Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD, Hans Raj Hans, LDM, Vijay Padha, Director, SBI-RSETI, R K Kalsotra, LBO, O P Sharma, District Manager, JCCB, Dalip Singh, Cluster Office, J&K Bank, Ravinder Kacchru, Senior Manager, JKGB, Jaffar Abbas, Project Officer, DUDA, Dr Amrish Vaid, Project Coordinator, KVK, Kathua, managers of different banks, NGO representatives and SHG members.
On the occassion, DDM, NABARD, Kathua explained the role of group leaders, concept and book-keeping of SHG, activities undertaken by the SHG. The duties and responsibilities of president/secretary, internal lending within SHG and relationship with banks was explained in detail. They were further informed about the role of bankers in SHG formation, their linkage and development of enterprise.
Hans Raj Hans and R K Kalsotra also interacted with the bankers and emphasized on the need of social banking. Vijay Padha assured all type of training support on behalf of SBI-RSETI to SHG members and other rural entrepreneurs.
Dr Amrish Vaid, Project Coordinator, KVK, Kathua informed the role of the KVK in imparting training to SHGs.
