Mendhar people facing power, water crisis

MENDHAR, Dec 25: The residents of different areas in tehsil Mendhar are facing power and water crisis for the past several months and the concerned department has so far failed to mitigate their sufferings.
The inhabitants of Mohallah Qasba at Ward Number 1 in Kalaban area are facing power crisis for the past several months.
The transformer installed in the area got damaged few months back and till date it has not been repaired or replaced by PDD, which has created anguish among the people, Ramiz Raja, a resident of Mohallah Qasba said.
He stated that the issue was taken up with the PDD officials several times but nothing has been done till today, which has resulted into manifold problems to the people especially old age and students.
On behalf of residents, he demanded installation of the upgraded transformer in Mohallah Qasba at the earliest and warned to come on roads if no step was taken in this regard.
Meanwhile, in village Sangoite, the people are facing problems due to non-availability of drinking water. The residents urged the concerned authorities to redress the issue at the earliest.
Similarly, the water pipes laid in the main town Mendhar were leaking at various places and no steps have been taken by the PHE Department.
“Old pipes have been laid in the area for water supply, which are leaking at several places, due to which they are getting contaminated water, which is not fit for drinking or cooking purposes”, the residents said.
They requested Chief Engineer, PHE Department to replace these old pipes without any further delay.
