Govt rejigs senior bureaucrats, appoints 3 as PS to ministers

NEW DELHI, Dec 26:
Senior IRS officer Deepak Shetty was today appointed Director General of Shipping as part of a reshuffle involving 14 bureaucrats effected by the Government.
In addition to these, the appointment of three new Private Secretaries to central ministers has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Sunil Kumar, a 1998 batch Indian Statistical Service officer, has been appointed as PS to Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant G Geete. Ravi Kumar, a 2000 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed PS to Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises G M Siddeshwara.
Yashpal, a 1999 batch Haryana Civil Service officer, has been appointed Private Secretary to Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.
Deepak Shetty, a 1980 batch officer of Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise Cadre), has been appointed DG (Shipping) in the Directorate General of Shipping under the Ministry of Shipping in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, it said.
He is presently working as Joint Director General (Shipping) in the directorate.
M J Joseph, a 1979 batch Indian Cost Accounts Service officer, has been appointed as Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards in Department of Consumer Affairs, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, it said.
He is working as Additional Secretary in the Corporate Affairs Ministry.
Anant Kumar Singh, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. His batchmate from Bihar cadre, Deepak Kumar has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Anand Kumar, also from the 1984 batch, has been made Managing Director, National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, the order said.
Vijaya Shrivastava and D V Prasad, both 1984 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka cadres, have been appointed as Additional Secretaries in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Women and Child Development Ministry, respectively.
Shrivastava and Prasad are working as Joint Secretaries in Department of Rural Development and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, respectively.
Alok Shrivastava and Rashmi Shukla Verma, both 1984 batch MP cadre officers, have been appointed as Additional Secretary in Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Panchayati Raj, respectively.
Their batchmate, T Jacob from Tamil Nadu cadre has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training. He was working as JS in the DoPT.
Alok Kumar, also from the same batch, has been appointed as Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary. He is already working as the Secretary in the Commission.
Raghvendra Singh, a 1983 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, has been shifted to Department of Agriculture and Cooperation as Additional Secretary. He was working at the same level in Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
T Vijayakumar, also from the same batch, has been appointed as Director General, Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary. He was working at the same level in the Department of Rural Development.
Ajay Narayan Jha, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Manipur- Tripura cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance. Jha is presently OSD, Finance Commission. (AGENCIES)
