Workshop on ‘Cultivation of Medicinal, Aromatic Plants’ held

BHADERWAH, July 27: Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines (IIIM), Jammu in collaboration with KVK Doda (SKUAST-J) organised one day workshop cum awareness camp on “Cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants” at Government PG College.
On the occasion, Ramneek Manhas, a young unemployed turned an emerging agri-preneur, also member DDB Doda, was the chief guest, whereas, Mohd Ashraf Zargar, a leading farmer of Doda district was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by incharge Principal Government PG College.
While speaking, Dr Sanjay Khajuria of SKUAST- J, impressed upon the farming community to come forward and avail the opportunity in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants, to raise their socio-economic status.
Dr Suresh Chandra, Chief Scientist, IIIM, Jammu delivered lecture on commercial cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants for rural prosperity.
Dr MS Verma, Scientist, IIIM-Jammu, Dr Munish Sharma, Dr Vikas Gupta, Dr Balbir Singh, consultant IIIM also spoke on various aspects of farming.
In the end, the vote of thanks was presented by I/C Principal, Govt. P. G. College, Bhaderwah.
The proceeding was conducted by Prof Javeed Iqbal, HoD, Botany, Government PG College.
