NAGROTA, Dec 30: Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today asserted that National Conference will continue to pursue its agenda of seeking equitable distribution of resources between the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh for holistic and inclusive development of the State.
“The uniqueness of the State lies in its unity in diversity and to maintain this distinct feature, the three regions must get equal opportunities of progress and development”, Mr Rana said at a felicitation function, held by the nine Panchayats of his constituency to mark his election to the Legislative Assembly, here this afternoon.
He said National Conference has all along endeavoured to satiate the distinct economic and political aspirations of the three regions, as also their sub-regions, so that the State marches towards the goal of progress and prosperity as a proud singular entity.
“Our effort has been to see that no region or segment felt a sense of alienation or deprivation”, he said, adding that this being the motivating factor, the party worked tirelessly to achieve the set objectives. He said National Conference is rooted deep into the ethos of the State because of its commitment to the people, irrespective of region or religion.
“People’s trust has been a source of strength which enabled this great public movement to withstand the challenges and sail out of difficult situations from time to time”, he said and hoped that the people will continue to bestow their patronage to National Conference.
He appreciated the spirit of cohesiveness among the people and said their deep longing for peace and development in an atmosphere of harmony between the regions has been a defining factor that cannot be ignored in any circumstance.
The Provincial President lauded the valour and political wisdom of the people of Nagrota who braved a tough situation and demonstrated their will during the just concluded elections. He said he will repay the debt of love, affection and support offered to him by devoting himself to the development of this important constituency. He reiterated that the vision of transforming Nagrota shall remain his agenda for the next six years.
Mr Rana referred to the crucial role played by young people of the constituency and said their empowerment in terms of employment and other avocations will be an agenda to fulfill in the next few years. “There should be no reason for despair, as we are determined to get even more than what is due for the development and empowerment of this constituency”, he said and called for a collective effort to achieve this.
