JAMMU, Dec 30: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two practicing advocates namely Ajay Bakshi and Tariq Rasool Wani highlighting the inaction on the part of Government to deal with the situation caused by the unprecedented floods, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today directed the Divisional Commissioner to comply with the directions or appear in person.
After hearing Advocate Sachin Dogra appearing for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, DB observed, “order dated November 14, 2014 has not been complied despite the fact that details of 30 families, which have either not received any relief or the relief given was very meager, were shared with the Divisional Commissioner”.
Accordingly, DB granted last opportunity to the Divisional Commissioner to comply with the directions issued on November 14, 2014 by putting the whole data on the website. “The details be provided to the court so that necessary directions may be issued, if required. The needful shall be done a week before next date of hearing”, the DB said.
“If order dated November 14 is not complied with then the Divisional Commissioner shall remain present in person to explain his conduct”, the DB directed.
