SAMBA, Jan 2: A meeting of bankers and district/sectoral officers was held to review the progress and performance of bankers in key areas relating to deposits/advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending September 2014.
District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh while chairing the meeting had a detailed review of progress achieved in sponsoring the cases by various departments like DRDA, KVIB, KVIC, DIC, Employment, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, Agriculture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry etc.
While reviewing the progress under various schemes like SGSY, SGSRY, JKSES etc, he exhorted upon all the District/Sectoral officers and bankers to adopt a proactive approach to motivate the deserving persons to come forward and take benefit of the schemes. He also advised officers to involve PRIs for disseminating information of the benefits under various self employment schemes so as to ensure that benefits percolate to the deserving people especially marginal farmer’s, weaker sections, SC/ST, Women etc.
DDC directed the Agriculture Department and banks to clear the backlog and ensure that all eligible farmers are covered under the scheme. He also urged upon the bankers to disburse credit under the KCC scheme. He exhorted upon banks and Agricultural Department to complete the 100% coverage of farmers under KCC.
He emphasized upon the banks to expedite cases for linkage under various schemes and achieve the allocated targets for 2014-15.
It was informed that till date, the banks have opened 28445 accounts under PMJDY scheme wherein an amount of Rs 1.19 crore has been held as deposits. The banks have also issued 7297 RUPAY Debit Cards to the account holders under PMJDY.
It was intimated that the deposit and advances of banks as on ending September 2014 stood at Rs 237544 lakh and Rs 121094 lakh respectively, thus achieving a CD ratio of 50.98%. Further, district has achieved 39.73 percent of the total Annual Credit plan upto quarter ending September for the year 2014-15.
Lead Bank Manager, Hans Raj Hans, while giving detailed account of the performance of banks during the quarter informed that the progress under priority sectors, weaker sections and credit flow to women beneficiaries has been above the RBI stipulations.
Satbir Singh Beniwal, Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India stressed upon covering the unbanked areas of the district through bank branches or BC/BF model.
