JAMMU, Jan 6: Reacting strongly to the unabated ceasefire violations and the heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan on the villages of Samba and Hiranagar sectors along the International Border which has forced thousands of the border residents to take shelter in the relief camps, Panthers Party staged a protest demonstration and torched Pakistan’s flag in front of Raj Bhawan, here today.
The protest demonstration was led by the Party’s State president Balwant Singh Mankotia and several other leaders.
Amid clamorous anti-Pak slogans by the NPP activists against the unprovoked firing and shelling in the border areas, Balwant Singh Mankotia said that Pakistan has once again raised its draconian head to create an atmosphere of fear by making a bid to push ‘fidayeens’ inside the Indian territory under the covering gun fire and mortar shelling well ahead of US President Barrack Obama’s visit to India.
He added that the border residents have suffered an immense loss of lives, property, crops and cattle stock since July 2014 due to the repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army.
“It is a high time to teach Pakistan an unforgettable lesson and defeat their nefarious plans once and for all,” Mankotia asserted.
Yashpal Kundal MLA Samba and president Young Panthers reiterated the demand for allotting 5 marlas of plots at safer places, tents and the adequate compensation against the perished livestock as per the directions of the Supreme Court to the border residents who have been living and facing the wrath of  the Pakistan Army along the IB and the LoC.
Mankotia also demanded the rehabilitation package from the Central Government for the victims of the catastrophic rains living in Jammu at par with the victims of Kashmir.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Advocate Bansi Lal Sharma, Political Advisor to JKNPP; Jagdev Singh, coordination secretary general; Rajesh Pargotra, provincial president; S Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu, provincial vice-president; Gunwant Singh, provincial general secretary and Kuldeep Sharma, Ashok Randhawa and Shanker Singh Chib, provincial secretaries.
