THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Jan 9: The FMCG arm of the Rs 1,400 crore Synthite Group will shortly enter the Gulf market with a range of curry powders, masalas and spices.
The Group, which made its FMCG foray six months back with the Kitchen Treasures range, is planning to enter the Gulf markets in February, said its Managing Director George Paul.
“The curry powder and masalas market in the Gulf region is estimated to have a volume of Rs 200 crore, with the UAE market alone accounting for nearly half of that,” he said.
The company is planning to offer about 25 products to the Gulf, including two non-vegetarian pickles, said Kitchen Treasures CEO Ashok Mani.
Mani said the company would also offer some Arabic masalas and focus on the domestic and Middle-East markets in the seasonings segment.
Synthite Group is a leader in the oleoresins market and presently exports to 85 countries.
In order to ensure raw material with the least amount of pesticide, the company had taken the contract farming route, educating farmers on best practices in farming, particularly in chilli farming.
Extending the contract farming activity internationally, Synthite has tied up with farmers in China and Brazil for farming and supply of agricultural crops for buyback and processing. (PTI)
