UP Governor gives some more time to 2 MLAs facing disqualification

LUCKNOW :  Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik is said to have given some more time to two MLAs facing disqualification on the Lokayukta’s recommendation.
The MLAs here today claimed that the governor had said to them that they would be given adequate time for hearing before any final decision in this regard.
The two MLAs – BJP’s Bajrang Bahadur Singh and BSP’s Uma Shankar Singh – met the governor here yesterday and submitted a memorandum, pleading that that the Lokayukta had done injustice to them by recommending their disqualification from assembly for grabbing government contracts despite being members of the house.   They requested more time and hearing.    Lokayukta Justice (rtd) N.K. Mehrotra had recommended the disqualification of the two MLAs for violating the provisions of the Representation of The People Act .    Raj Bhawan had sought opinion and view of the Election Commission which is learnt to have conveyed its point of view to the governor.
