200 patients examined in CVD detection camp

JAMMU, Jan 11: The Cardiology Department of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu today organised a medical camp regarding the diagnosis and management of Cardio Vascular Diseases at Gadigarh in which 200 patients were examined and treated.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, GMC along with a team of doctors comprising Dr Salma, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr Dhaneshwar Kapoor, Dr Atul Sharma , Dr Atul Vij and Dietitian Sapna Pandita & Neelam with paramedics including Raj Singh , Kashmiri Lal , Rajesh Sharma & Volunteers including   Gourav Sharma, Lokesh and G L Sharma .
A large number of patients availed the benefits of the camp which included clinical examination,  blood sugar detection, ECG and distribution of  free medicines.
Dr Sushil Sharma highlighted that majority of Cardiovascular diseases are caused by risk  factor that can  be  controlled  treated  or modified such as  high blood pressure,  cholesterol, overt obesity,  tobacco  use, lack of  physical activity  and diabetes .
“Heart disease is   not just a man’s disease and all women should know their heart diseases. Preventive measures instituted early can have greater life time benefits . Healthy life style  will delay the  progression of  Cardiovascular diseases  and there  is hope that  disease can be regressed living a healthy life style  that  incorporates good nutrition, weight  management and getting plenty of physical activity,” Dr Sharma said.
