UDHAMPUR, Jan 11:  Non-availability of Ambulance driver led to a strong protest by family members and relatives of a heart patient at Basantgarh hospital, this evening.
Shouting slogans against the hospital authorities, the protesting people demanded stern action against the erring driver and concerned persons on the duty. The protest continued for more than an hour.
According to Police, the trouble erupted this evening when a patient with serious heart ailment was brought to Basantgarh hospital. After a check-up, the doctors on duty referred the patient to Ramnagar Sub-District Hospital in view of his critical condition.
However, driver of the hospital ambulance was not on duty and had gone to somewhere without informing anybody. The non-availability of the driver irked family members of the patients who held a strong protest demonstration there.
The situation could be controlled only after the intervention of the Policemen, who pacified the family members and arranged a private bus to shift the patient to Ramnagar hospital.
