Srinagar, Jan 15: Police today claimed that two extortionists posing as militants by brandishing a toy pistol, were arrested in Seer village in Tral area of Pulwama district.
A police spokesman said some villagers tipped off the police that two persons had barged in a house and extorted Rs 10,000 at gun point.
He said police swung into action and laid a cordon in the area, arresting the two extortionists identified as Rafiq Ahmad Bhat alias Dada and Abdul Rashid Wani, residents of Tral.
“A toy pistol, which almost resembles an actual pistol, was recovered from their possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is on,” he said.
