Srinagar, Jan 16: The employees of Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Anantnag today protested against the alleged slapping of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag by National Conference Member Legislative Council (MLC) Bashir Ahmad Veeri.
The workers of the NC also protested against district administration for alleged bungling in the distribution of relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims in Anantnag.
Veeri allegedly slapped Additional DC, Shabir Ahmad, in DC’s office accusing him of misusing the flood relief. The alleged slapping incident took place inside the office of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag yesterday and in presence of DC Syed Tasaduq Hussain.
Reports said that Veeri was enquiring about the alleged fraud in the distribution of flood relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims in the district. There was hot exchange of words between Shabir and Veeri over the issue. Veeri allegedly slapped Shabir leading to protest by the employees of the DC office. The employees of DC’s office demanded that an FIR be lodged against the MLC.
The employees continued their protest against the MLC and demanded action against him. “We will protest till action is taken against the legislator. He has abused our senior officer. How can we tolerate it?” said protesting employee.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syed Tasaduq Jeelani, denied slapping of the ADC by Veeri. “There was hot exchange of words between the two and the issue has been resolved”, he added.
Veeri when contacted denied the slapping incident and said there was hot exchange of words after the ADC abused him. He accused the ADC of distributing relief in non-flood affected areas.
