Students display talent as 9 events organized on day-2 of UNIFEST

JAMMU, Jan 16: Enthusiasm and competitions marked second day of the ongoing 30th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival at Jammu University on Friday as total nine events in Music, Dance and Art categories were held today wherein the participants from different universities displayed their talent.
The second day of UNIFEST began with a mime competition in the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium where Prof Lalit Magotra was the chief guest. At the same time, a parallel session of competitions was also organized in the Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, where classical instrumental (Percussion and non-percussion) contests were held.
The third competition was simultaneously organized in the Geology Department, where participants made beautiful Rangolis.
The evening session saw Western Vocal singing performances. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr S P Vaid, Additional Director General of Police, J&K State, whereas Prof R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, presided over the function
A very interesting competition of photography and cartooning was held in the afternoon in the Seminar Hall of the Dean Students Welfare office.
Yesterday, competitions in Painting, Quiz and Classical Dance were held. 24 teams participated in the painting competition with the theme “Village Scene or Regional Festival” while in the Quiz contest, teams from 6 Universities made it to the final round. Great performances of 15 minutes each were witnessed when dancers from 5 different Universities presented different forms of classical dance.
Tomorrow on third day of the Festival, Folk dance competition, One Act plays, light vocal and classical singing competitions along with poster making and collage making shall be held.
