One killed, 12 injured in two road accidents

RAJOURI, Jan 17: One person was killed while at least a dozen others injured in three different road accidents in district Rajouri today.
A police spokesman giving details said that a driver was killed and five passengers injured when a new Tata Magic vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Faiza Morh in Kandi area of tehsil Kotranka on Rajouri-Budhal road this morning. The mishap took place at around 9 am when the ill-fated brand new vehicle No. JK-11/6563 was on its way to Kotranka from Sarha village near Ziarat.
The vehicle had hardly covered a few kilometers of distance when it went out of control and fell into a 50 feet deep gorge, resulting into the death of driver on the spot. He was identified as Zakir Hussain (24), son of Faqir Mohammed, resident of Sarha in Kandi. The locals of the area and police rushed to the spot after coming to know about the mishap. All the injured were rushed to Kotranka hospital.
The injured were identified as Mohd Yaqoob (52), son of Mohd Khan, Mohd Iqbal (32), son of Jih Mohd, Nazuk Khan, son of Mohd Yaqoob, Yassir (16), son of Mohd Riaz and Shazia (13), daughter of Mohd Riaz, residents of Sarha. While Shazia was provided treatment at Kotranka hospital, four others were referred to District hospital Rajouri after first aid by the Medical staff. Two injured were later removed to GMC Jammu. The police said that vehicle was new and deceased Zakir had purchased it hardly two days back.
Meanwhile, four persons were injured after a Tempo Traveller met with an accident near Nowshera bridge today. The vehicle was in speed and the driver lost control. All the injured were provided first aid at Nowshera Sub District hospital.
Three persons were injured in another bus accident near Sunderbani today. The vehicle was on way to Mahore via Budhal from Jammu. The injured were removed to Sunderbani hospital. They were out of danger.
