JAMMU, Jan 18: The students of over 80 universities exhibited their skills in seven events on the penultimate day of the 30th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival “Udghosh” at University of Jammu.
The fourth day of the Udghosh started with the Elocution at Seminar Hall, TBS. The topic of the Elocution was “Swacch Bharat or Clean India”. Twenty-two universities participated in the event. Prof Ved Ghai, Padmashree was the chief guest. The event was adjudged by judges of national repute Jaydeep Das (Nagpur), Dr Heppish Shephard (Chandigarh) and Dr Parmod N Pabrekar (Mumbai).
The One Act Play was held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The event was divided into two days. Eight teams participated in the day two. The event was judged by Nilesh D Pawe, Dr Rajiv Padokar and Balwant Thakur. The event was compeered by Ms Anum Khan and Sahil Mehta and the teacher In-charge was Mr R K Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Principal Secretary to Governor was the chief guest and Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor presided over the event.
The Clay Modeling competition was held at DSW Seminar Hall, University of Jammu. Seventeen Universities participated in this event. Dr Shivender Singh, Associate Prof from Agra and Dr BN Singh, Dean Fine Arts, Faculty, Darbanga acted as judges. “Unity, Struggle and Affection” were the themes for the event.
The Group Song Indian contest was held at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. Fourteen Universities participated in the event. Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner was the chief guest and Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University presided over the function. The event was judged by Arvind Kumar (Music Director in Mumbai from Jammu), Sandhya Rani (HoD Music Government College, Bareily) and Pt Prakash Sujal Purkar (Indore).
The Installation competition was held at DSW Seminar Hall, University of Jammu. Eighteen Universities participated in this contest. The participants were given two topics Udghosh and Crime against Women. Dr BN Singh, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, Darbanga, Vikas Dogra (Jammu) and Dr Shivender Singh adjudged the event.
The Skit event was held at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. Fifteen universities participated in this event. The event was judged by Nilesh D Pawe, Dr Rajiv Padokar and Balwant Thakur. Preeti Gupta, known theatre artist was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Last event of the day was Folk Orchestra which was held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Prof IA Hamal, Vice-Chancellor, BGSBU, was the chief guest and Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, JU presided over the function.
The event Teacher Incharge included Dr Garima Gupta, Dr Kavita Suri, Dr Savita Nayer, Dr Vijay Sehgal, Dr Deepika Salathia and Dr Jaspal Singh.
The suspense over the results of the terrific performances of four days will be over in the valedictory function being organized tomorrow at 11 am.
