JAMMU, Jan 19: Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today met Principal Secretary Home J&K Suresh Kumar here in connection with the State Government notification, allowing tourist to visit Yarma Gonbo area of Nubra Valley.
CEC was informed by the Principal Secretary that State Government can issue notification for Indian tourists only on receipt of clearance by Central Govt, while in case of foreigners, it is the Central Government which must take decision and issue notification.
As it is the foreign tourist which brings much of the remuneration from tourist in areas like Yarma Gonbo, if the foreign tourists are excluded from visiting such areas the intended socio-economic development of these remote areas will be a distant dream. Moreover, this will also lead to debarring these areas of their due and potential growth.
Taking cognizance of the fact, CEC took up in writing with Principal Secretary J&K to immediately take up the matter with Union Home Secretary to expedite the process of allowing foreign tourists to visit Yarma Gonbo area of Nobra Valley.
Meanwhile, Rigzin Spalbar also met Principal Secretary Planning and Development Department BR Sharma and took up the issues pertaining to non-payment of 5 months’ salary to the employees of Sub-Transmission Division PDD Leh and the required funds for clearing the liabilities of Kalachakra Initiation 2014 and requested for early release of the held-up funds by treating the matter as most urgent.
Principal Secretary apprised CEC about the under-process of the above issues and assured for early release of funds.
