JAMMU, Jan 20: While expressing his serious concern over the power crisis being faced by the people in Jammu, BJP general secretary and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today issued instructions to the concerned officers for taking early measures to restore burnt transformers and increasing quantum of electricity to the people so that they get immediate relief.
During his visit at Transformer Repairing Workshop at Miran Sahib, near here, Gupta maintained that power crisis in Jammu has reached a critical stage and authorities should take immediate steps to avert the crisis. Though power cuts during hot Summer are known to people of Jammu but the situation this time is unprecedented even in Winter, he added.
He said protests by people in different parts of the region and Jammu city are of no effect because the authorities have become deaf to hear the woes of the people. He asked the authorities to remain responsive to the complaints of the people whenever their attention is called through a telephone call. Gupta expressed concern that the areas which are fully metered also face worst power crisis. Recurrent cuts for long hours have made life in Jammu virtual hell, he added. He said PDD has become a law unto itself because it does not at all respond to the demands and protests of the people. This has become a very critical issue and the Government should immediately consider various measures that would help in ameliorating the woes of the population in the city, he added.
Gupta expressed serious concern over poor infrastructure and lack of skilled laborer at workshop which has a burden of over five constituencies. There are almost 4000 transformers in these five constituencies and round about 2500 transformers in alone Gandhi Nagar Constituency and the burden of repairing is being catered by this workshop only. He assured the people of his Constituency to have independent workshop for Gandhi Nagar Constituency to deal with power crisis.
