JAMMU, Jan 20: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah today said declaring the candidates for the post of the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister should be made mandatory for parties ahead of the elections to allow people have a say in the process.
“I believe declaration of CM/PM candidates before election should be mandatory and at least one or two debates between the candidates,” Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
“People should have a say in deciding their CM/PM & not be surprised by party leaderships after the votes are cast,” he added.
Omar also batted for television debates between the aspirants for the top post for spelling out their vision.
“…At least one or two debates between the candidates should be held. “I know @jkpdp leaders refused a pre-election debate planned by @sardesairajdeep but I hope @thekiranbedi (and) @ArvindKejriwal agree to at least one,” he said.
He also-re-tweeted a tweet of Arvind Kejriwal on Kiran Bedi.
“Haha game on “@ArvindKejriwal:.@thekiranbedi kiranji, I used to follow u on twitter, Now, u have blocked me on twitter, Kindly unblock me,” he wrote.
